The fabulous account of six years in the lives of East London’s most celebrated alternative drag performers, Dressed As A Girl dazzled, surprised and outraged audiences on release earlier this year.   

 

Filmed over a six year period starting at Glastonbury’s infamous Block 9 NYC Downlow in 2010, the gender-bending, mind mashing, alternative night of dance-fuelled hedonism, the film is both a record of a fascinating style of hyper-costumed performance and an insight into the complex personal lives of Jonny Woo, John Sizzle, Holestar, Scottee, Amber, Pia and Ma Butcher. 

 

The official motion soundtrack to this hit cult film – curated by the film’s director Colin Rothbart and renowned DJ Guy Williams – brings together the crème de la crème of East London’s underground alternative music scene in addition to contributions from some of the film’s stars. 

 

Highlights include DRAG ring master and narrator Jonny Woo lending his vocal to the title track: the gnawing electronic crunch of East London label boss, DJ, producer and Batty Bass club heroine Hannah Holland, also inviting an appearance from her swirling psychedelic side project, dystopian trio Black Gold Buffalo; self-professed ‘glamour loving disco spinning trout about town‘ Jon Pleased Wimmin puts his globe trotting schedule on hold to serve up some thigh shuddering grooves while the mighty Feral Is Kinky drops her legendary dancehall draped skit.
