Dazed, Huffington Post & BFI Include Dressed as a Girl In Best LGBT Movies of 2015 Lists
January 4, 2016
What a year 2015 was for LGBT films. So many great films shown on cinema screens as trans issues were put in the spotlight and gay marriage became legal in UK and USA. So it's a real honour many of the top LGBT film lists have included Dressed as a Girl in their top film lists.
Huffington Post's Adam Groffman steered away from mainstream releases for his '5 Best Gay Films of 2015' list opting to include the ultra low budget Dressed as a Girl. Groffman comments, "for anyone with a slightly passing interest in drag politics, this film offers a bit of insight into the world of drag, and it does so in an entertaining and engaging way." You can read Huffington Post's full top 5 list here.
Meanwhile popular culture mag/site Dazed puts Dressed as a Girl up there with Tangerine, Carol and Danish Girl as one of the best LGBT films of the year; remarking, "this BTS (behind-the-scenes) extravaganza by Colin Rothbart shows you just how much they live and breathe their art." You can read their full list here.
Also Alex Davidson writing for the BFI included Dressed as a Girl in his summary of 2015 LGBT highlights commenting on the importance of archiving the alternative drag scene, "Scottee’s funny and poignant monologues are valuable." You can read the full article here.
In the UK Dressed as a Girl had over 40 cinema screenings across and is now available on popular streaming sites including Itunes, BFI Player, Amazon and to buy on DVD from our website and Amazon. Be sure to check it out if you haven't already!
